When a monitored security alarm activates, the signal is received by the monitoring facility and the appropriate response procedure is followed. Depending on the situation, this can involve contacting authorised keyholders, arranging a security response and contacting the emergency services where appropriate.
But what actually happens?
1. The alarm detects an event
A sensor may detect movement, a door opening or another security event.
The alarm activates and sends a signal if it is connected to professional monitoring.
2. The monitoring team receives the signal
A monitored alarm provides more than a siren at the property.
The activation is communicated to the 24-hour monitoring facility, allowing the situation to be assessed.
3. The appropriate response is arranged
The response depends on the type of alarm activation and the agreed security arrangements.
This may include contacting an authorised keyholder or arranging a mobile security patrol.
4. The property can be checked
Where appropriate, a security response can help establish whether there has been an attempted break-in, a genuine security incident or a false alarm.
5. We stay at the property until it is secure.
If there is damage e.g. a broken window we arrange for it to be fixed and stay on site until the property is safe once again.
6. We report on the incident to the home or business owner
Making sure any absent owner knows what has occurred and how the incident was resolved.
